CASE HISTORY - FERROUT 100 Douglas - Liverpool Bay
This well was drilled and put on line as a gas injector with an expectation to take all available gas from the Douglas platform to maintain oil production reservoir pressure. The development of significant backpressures caused the premature shut down of the well to allow the pressures to bleed back. The back pressure was determined to be the result of sulphide scale within the injection mandrel as well as at the perforations and possibly near the well bore area.
After analysis of the solids, a treatment of Ferrout 100 series sulphide/sulphate dissolver was selected for injection.
Ten thousand liters of Ferrout 105 were injected into the well with the chemical allowed to soak for 24 hours. No fluid flowed back, when injection was attempted immediately after the shut in period.
The injection rate increased steadily from 26 mscfd (with 124 bar back pressure and subsequent shut down) to 36 mscfd at 124 bar without increasing pressure causing shut down.
At the time of this article, the well has been taking the same rate of injection without subsequent treatments for 6 months non-stop.
